SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Leaders in Spartanburg School District 7 are breaking ground on a brand-new childcare center for employees. The childcare center is taking shape in a new wing at Mary H. Wright Elementary School.

The project was approved in a special election for Spartanburg School Board District 7′s referendum in August 2024. The community voted in favor of a 9-mill property tax increase to fund the childcare center, along with the new Jesse Boyd Elementary School.

District leaders said the childcare center at Mary H. Wright Elementary School has five classrooms that will accommodate 66 children from birth to four years old. They said there is also a public classroom for 3K students to serve the greater community.
