MILAM COUNTY, Texas — A fugitive wanted in connection with a domestic violence shooting in Milam County has been captured following a joint law enforcement operation.

Cody Villarreal, 38, was taken into custody after being on the run since Aug. 26 in connection with the shooting of his girlfriend near Buckholts.

The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Milam County Special Operations group, Milam County Criminal Investigation Division and the Bell County Sheriff's Department Violent Crime Apprehension Team. According to a post made by the Milam County Sheriff's Office, public tips and information were also instrumental in Villarreal's capture.
