The 74-year-old driver who hit and killed a child by the Kiwanis Aquatic Centre on July 31 now faces a charge of careless driving causing death, Niagara police say.
The driver is a St. Catharines, Ont., resident, Niagara Regional Police Service said in a news release Thursday.
They have an upcoming provincial offences court date.
The collision occurred in the parking lot of the centre near Carlton and Niagara street, police said at the time .
The child was under the age of 12, police said.
The driver stayed at the scene until police arrived and they said drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
