The Philadelphia Eagles made a push to keep Micah Parsons in the NFC East, according to a new report.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday that the defending champion Eagles called the Dallas Cowboys about a Parsons trade this summer and “made a strong play” to acquire the two-time All-Pro.

However, according to Schefter, the Cowboys had “no interest” in trading Parsons to a division rival and eventually opted for a deal with the Green Bay Packers last week.

Parsons, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., was on the trade block after contract talks with the Cowboys on an extension broke down. The Packers ultimately acquired the 26-year-old for a package that included defensive lineman Kenny Clark and two first-round picks, then signed Parsons to a four-year, $186-million contract extension.
