A Reform-run Derbyshire council has apologised after a decision it made without consultation broke the law. Derbyshire County Council , run by Reform since May, has issued a statement formally apologising for a decision its cabinet member for education made.
Under the Local Government Act 2000, councils legally have to give 28 days’ notice of any “key decision” they intend to make before that decision is actually made. However, Reform’s Cllr Jack Bradley, cabinet member for education, made the unilateral decision to close five adult community education centres two days before the end of this 28-day notice period.
