In her latest statement, Deputy PM Angela Rayner referenced the challenges she's encountered as a mum to a child with permanent disabilities, noting that "family life is rarely straightforward, particularly when dealing with disability, divorce, and the complexities of ensuring your children's long-term security". ‌

In recent days, the 45 year old Ashton-under-Lyne MP has faced examination regarding her tax affairs following the acquisition of a £800,000 flat in the coastal town of Hove, in East Sussex. ‌

Ms Rayner submitted herself to the ethics committee after reports emerged that she saved £40,000 in stamp duty by withdrawing her name from the deeds of a family home in Ashton-under-Lyne. She stated she sought expert financial guidance, and subsequently followed that counsel. ‌
