Syracuse, N.Y. -- As New York officials think about whether to subsidize the state’s four nuclear reactors for another 20 years, a consultant’s report out today concludes that shutting the plants instead would drive electricity prices higher and slow down the regional economy.
Constellation Energy Corp., the owner of New York’s existing nuclear fleet, paid for a study by The Brattle Group to estimate the economic effects of allowing the reactors to shut down in the next few years.
