QUINCY (WGEM) - Quincy officials were able to realize that a stretch of road was in Adams County’s possession by looking at a five decade old map.

On Monday, the Quincy City Council voted in favor of acquiring jurisdiction of a stretch of Seminary Road from Adams County after it was realized that, despite being in the Quincy city limits, it wasn’t actually controlled by them.

“The paper work was never completed and it never officially transferred,” said Quincy Engineering Manager Steve Bange.

According to Bange, this wasn’t the first time the city dove into the record books to find past information on city information.

“There’s lots of times where we have to go back and refer to old city plans,” Bange said.
