A man has been charged with the murder of a student who disappeared two decades ago while on holiday in Greece. Steven Cook, a 20-year-old University of Liverpool student from Sandbach, vanished during his first trip abroad without his parents.
He was last seen in a bar asking for directions to his hotel on September 1, 2005, while holidaying with mates in the resort of Malia, Crete. In 2017, remains discovered at the bottom of a well in Malia were confirmed to be those of the missing Liverpool FC supporter.
Since then, there had been no further developments in the case and his family feared they may never know what happened to Steven. However the Liverpool Echo reports Cheshire Police are now liaising with Greek authorities after receiving new information.
