A teenaged motorist who crashed into a tree while drunk, resulting in a young woman sustaining catastrophic head injuries, has been sentenced to four years behind bars.
Now 19, the driver was 17 at the time of the crash in Fort Erie and cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
In Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Tuesday, following a joint recommendation by the Crown and defence, Judge Janet Booy imposed an adult sentence of four years in custody on charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm and assault causing bodily harm.
