The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) has classified a string of voluntary recalls of fudge flavors, brittles and toffees whose packaging omitted vital allergen information.
The Class II classification follows the August 6 recall by Iowa confectioner The Candy Barn and means the products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, but the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.
The recalls remain ongoing as the firm and the FDA conduct follow-up actions.
