KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The city of Knoxville is encouraging neighborhoods to get together and throw a party with a new grant program. The City’s Office of Community Safety and Empowerment is offering grants up to $5,000 to support community events in the city through its new On My Block Community Investment program.

The grants are open to residents, neighborhood associations, community groups, non-profits, churches, and formal/informal resident-led groups within the city limits. However, if the applicant is not a non-profit, a fiscal sponsor is required. Those without tax-exempt status can partner with a sponsor of their choice or request help finding one.
