NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - Wilbur Cross High School was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a student made threats on social media, according to school and police officials.

New Haven police said a 16-year-old student posted a vague threat against other students.

The individual was quickly located at home and taken into custody.

School officials said the lockdown lasted about 40 minutes before it was lifted.

They emphasized that the threat did not appear to be credible, and no students or staff were ever in danger.

School resource officers conducted a brief investigation on campus.

Police confirmed that New Haven officers did not respond since the threat was determined to be minor and not serious.

The student is now in custody, and the situation has been resolved.
