The celebration of a “historical”, “legendary” summer by Irmo Little League occurred Wednesday at Friarsgate Park as parents, supporters and even mascots from Texas Roadhouse and the Lexington County Blowfish packed the facility to salute this year’s baseball and softball programs.

Having set a national record last year with six state championship teams, Irmo became the first Little League program to send four teams to respective World Series tournaments after winning Southeast Region titles.

“ This is our town,” Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson said. “Irmo is our town and we’re so proud of what you have done here. A huge family. Eight hundred players, all those families. Everybody, the organization, the volunteers. It’s amazing what you have all done to put us on the map.”
