WASHINGTON — A large demonstration in D.C. Saturday once again forced road closures.
Thousands of protesters gathered at Malcolm X Park late in the morning and marched to the White House.
The “We Are All D.C.” protest – reportedly put together by Home Rule and the American Civil Liberties Union – was “perhaps the most organized demonstration yet” against President Donald Trump’s federal intervention in the nation’s capital.
The federal intervention began almost a month ago and it immediately sparked demonstrations in D.C.
According to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office , violent crime has dropped 45 percent since this time last year. The District saw an even more substantial decrease in carjackings, with 87 percent drop compared to last year.
