Two schools in Upton went on lockdown after a person wearing camouflaged clothing and carrying a long gun was seen in the area, Upton police said Thursday.
At around 9:17 a.m., Upton police learned of a suspicious man on Pleasant Street on Glen Avenue, near Nipmuc High School and Blackstone Valley Tech High School, police said in a statement .
“The individual was described as wearing camouflage clothing and carrying what appeared to be a long gun over his shoulder,” the statement read.
As police investigated and searched the area, the two schools were placed on lockdown, police said. No suspect was found and the lockdowns were lifted.
Police will increase their presence at the schools. So far, there is no confirmed threat at the schools.
Anyone with information about the incident is
