JASPER COUNTY — A man from Fair Oaks was arrested and faces felony charges after he allegedly threatened construction workers with a firearm, then shot it multiple times into a nearby field and fled the area on a lawnmower, all because he was upset about the noise from a generator.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Amelio, 39, got into an argument with the workers, who were doing construction on a residence about one mile east of Fair Oaks, over the loud noise. Witnesses allegedly told police Amelio waved a black handgun while yelling, though it was not intentionally pointed at anyone. After the incident, Amelio allegedly left the scene on a lawnmower and returned to his residence.
