Speeding was a major problem on area roadways this past Labor Day weekend, with state troopers reportedly catching 123 alleged violators and 13 allegedly travelling at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
"Several drivers were cited for reckless driving due to extremely high speeds," according to Indiana State Police. "Following too closely, unsafe lane changes, operating while intoxicated and passenger restraint violations were also cited at a higher rate than other offenses."
The holiday crackdown on aggressive and impaired drivers resulted in 11 arrests on allegations of operating while intoxicated, and 13 drivers accused of reckless driving, 10 of driving with a suspended license and 31 of front seat and/or child restraint violations, ISP said.
