PAWHUSKA — The founder of a Texas megachurch on Thursday waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges that he committed lewd or indecent acts to a child in Oklahoma during the 1980s.
Flanked by his attorneys and wife, Robert Preston Morris, 63, appeared before Judge Cindy Pickerell, who ordered the former senior pastor of Gateway Church to return to Osage County District Court on Oct. 2 for his formal arraignment on five counts.
Morris, dressed in a dark suit and gold tie, sat approximately 10 feet from Cindy Clemishire, who has publicly accused Morris of abuse that began in 1982 and continued until she was 17.
