Labor Day weekend marked the end of what law enforcement defines as the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer."
This year, while the overall number of traffic-related deaths was down in Utah, the number of motorcyclists killed spiked statewide.
Preliminary numbers were released for the 100 deadliest days — the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when roadway deaths typically rise — by Utah Department of Transportation and Department of Public Safety officials.
So far this year, Utah has seen a nearly 10% decrease in traffic fatalities, as well as an 18% decrease in fatalities during the summer, according to the statement.
The total number of summer crashes is currently at a 10-year low. While encouraging, Utahns are urged to keep that number moving in the right direction, said UDOT Pub
