HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - State officials are submitting their own bid to keep the Connecticut Sun in the Nutmeg state.

While exact details have not yet been made public, officials confirm the bid is separate from others made by private entities.

Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz said Thursday she believes the state’s deal would help answer some of the questions about the desire to play in a larger arena.

“Our proposal would involve having games both at Mohegan, but perhaps at venues in Hartford,” Bysiewicz said. “And the great thing about having the Sun play in Hartford is that it’s centrally located.”

The Sun average 9,000 fans every home game. That is expected to go up as the WNBA gains more popularity.
