HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - An annual tradition made its way back to the capital city, the Greater Hartford Heart Walk kicking off earlier Saturday morning.

The event is all about raising awareness around heart disease - hoping to support research and education across Connecticut.

“We’re here to honor and to commit to the fight against cardiovascular disease and improving the health of our communities,” said Dr. Adam Steinberg, chairperson of this year’s Greater Hartford Heart Walk.

A sea of red in the capital city as hundreds of people turned out for this year’s Greater Hartford Heart Walk, including your very own Kara Sundlun.

Some heart transplant survivors in the crowd today too, including Michael Tutler who had his surgery 18 years ago.
