The Jackson County Police-Involved Incident Team is investigating a shooting in Independence.

A significant law enforcement presence is currently at the QuikTrip in the 11000 block of E. 40th Street. Advertisement

It's unknown at this time if there are injuries.

Witnesses tell KMBC they heard "two or three gunshots."

The QuikTrip is temporarily closed due to the shooting.
