CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- An ammonia leak was reported on a freight train in Charlotte Thursday morning.
Norfolk Southern officials say the leak was reported at 1:15 a.m. on their train off North Tryon Street near the Charlotte Amtrak station. The response was to an empty residue car that had been carrying ammonium and was sitting in the train yard.
Norfolk Southern said the source of the issue was identified and addressed. Officials said there was no threat to the public.
Medic responded to the scene, but no injuries were reported.
