When Gia Peebles, the owner of a salon in Durham, and her husband attended the annual Big Rock Fishing Tournament in Beaufort, North Carolina, she noticed an influx of women during ladies’ day, and her inner collegiate athlete senses began to tingle, and she wanted to know how to join this phenomenon. She immediately received a laundry list of requirements, including the need for a captain and team members, so she rounded up her network of Lesleigh Mausi, Glenda Turner, and Tiana Davis and formed the Ebony Anglers.
