MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI - An interim city manager has been hired for the city of Muskegon Heights.
Pearlette Merriweather was introduced to the public at last week’s city council meeting. She has been in the job for three weeks now.
“She’s been doing a phenomenal job,” said Mayor Bonnie McGlothin. “I think she’ll be a good fit for us.”
The city manager is responsible for managing the department heads who oversee day-to-day operations of the city, including the police chief, fire chief, department of public works, inspections and planning.
The city manager also manages projects and grants, some of which are now connected through state and federal funding sources.
