WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - “Just be more respectful to those on fixed incomes.”

That’s Dawn Cisco’s message to National Grid as she looks at her August bill, up $50 from the month before.

“It is a concern. We bought this place in ’97. We’ve been here this long, like I said, we’ve got a mortgage payment. I don’t want to give up my home," said Cisco.

Cisco is bracing for when she gets September’s bill, which will include a rate hike that was just approved for National Grid, expected to add $22 a month to an average home.

Cisco isn’t alone when it comes to worrying about the bills. Jefferson County’s Office For The Aging Director Bethany Munn says that many others on a fixed income could be facing similar situations.
