MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) - The Michigan City Common Council approved four resolutions tied to Project Maize earlier this week.

Those approvals moved the $800,000,000 data center into its next phase.

“This building is 400,000 square feet. It has been underutilized for probably the past 30 years, 20 years at least. So, it’s basically paying the lowest amount of taxes possible for an industrial building,” says Skyler Tork, the director of redevelopment for Michigan City.

City council members also agreed on giving a tax abatement to the owner of the property at 402 Royal Road.

City officials say they’re excited about this project and hope it will bring more jobs and taxes to the local community.
