Mayor Eric Adams met with Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, on Tuesday, a source told NY1.

It is unclear what was discussed at the meeting, according to the source. However, according to multiple reports, Adams met with the president's team Tuesday as the Trump administration was reportedly discussing offering Adams a job to have him drop out of the mayor's race.

Politico reported Wednesday that Adams had been offered a position in the U.S. Department of Housing and Development.

The idea behind having Adams drop out of the mayoral race would be to clear a path for Andrew Cuomo to have the best shot at defeating frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, according to the reports.

Adams has denied such a meeting took place.
