A Lewis and Clark County District Court judge on Thursday temporarily blocked Gov. Greg Gianforte's ability to intervene in an ongoing spat among elected members and staff at the Montana Public Service Commission (PSC).

Judge Mike Menahan granted an order only hours after PSC President Brad Molnar's attorney filed the initial complaint seeking to temporarily prohibit the governor from being able to decide whether to suspend Molnar from the commission.

Molnar has been embroiled in an internal human resources investigation that PSC staff say is not connected to his regulatory work on the commission.
