OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Hundreds of new jobs are coming to Oak Ridge with the establishment of a first-of-its kind nuclear facility, state officials announced Thursday.

Oklo Inc., an advanced nuclear technology company, announced plans to move to a 247-acre site at the Oak Ridge Heritage Center as part of a nearly $1.7 billion expansion. It will create the nation's first privately funded nuclear fuel recycling facility to help meet the need growing fuel demand for advanced reactors.

According to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Oklo is the fifth company to move to Tennessee with help from the state's Nuclear Energy Fund.
