WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) is working to support employees affected by this summer’s sweeping reduction in force.
More than 300 positions were eliminated after the district announced it was facing a $46 million budget deficit . The cuts impacted a wide range of staff, from teachers to classified employees, leaving hundreds of families searching for their next step.
On Thursday afternoon, WS/FCS hosted a job fair at its education building. The event was designed specifically for laid-off employees, connecting them directly with potential employers.
About 30 organizations participated , including 22 public school systems from across North Carolina — stretching from Asheville City Schools in the west to Johnston County Schools in the east.
