FRANKLIN COUNTY, Arkansas — A man is still in the hospital after he was attacked by a bear in Franklin County.

"Across the board, our staff was surprised to hear and learn about this bear attack," Trey Reid said.

Redi, spokesperson for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC), said he could not believe the news he received on Wednesday.

"A 70-year-old gentleman was working on a tractor, I believe, doing some like trail maintenance, moving some gravel around. We don't know exactly what happened, you know, we just don't know yet," Reid said.

Authorities said it happened near Highway 23 near Mulberry Mountain Lodge.

They told us that the man's son went to check on him and found a bear attacking his father.

According to Reid, AGFC game wardens located the bear not far from the scene
