A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Thursday at 6:50 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 7:45 p.m. for Rockland County.
Residents can look for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
"At 6:48 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Lake Telemark to near Peapack And Gladstone to near Cloverhill. Movement was northeast at 30 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
Expect strong thunderstorms in the following locations:
Bloomingdale around 7:05 p.m.
Pompton Lakes around 7:10 p.m.
Ringwood and Fairfield around 7:15 p.m.
Wayne and Summit around 7:20 p.m.
Plainfield and Millburn around 7:25 p.m.
Hawthorne around 7:30 p.m.
According to the weather service, "If outdoors
