The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 3:29 p.m. on Thursday for strong thunderstorms until 4:30 p.m. for St. Lawrence and Franklin counties.

Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

"At 3:28 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Louisville to near Parishville to 9 miles south of Clifton. Movement was northeast at 50 mph," according to the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
