A coronial report into the death of a toddler in 2019 has recommended his death be referred to the unsolved homicide squad.
The Aboriginal toddler, who can be referred to only as KBS for legal reasons, was found "pale" and not breathing in his cot at a home in Wagga Wagga on January 13, 2019.
He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead, with the court hearing his injuries included broken ribs, cigarette lighter burns to his hand and blunt force trauma.
An autopsy found the boy died from a ruptured spleen caused by blunt force trauma, which was confirmed by coroner Carmel Forbes in her findings.
NSW Police launched an investigation into the boy's death in May 2019, but no person has been charged.
