CONNECTICUT, USA — While tinted windows are a popular car modification, Connecticut State Police warn that many of them are not legal and the problem is growing.
"It's great when you have a car that looks the way that you want it to look, but safety has to come first,” said Sgt. Luke Davis of the Connecticut State Police.
One area of increasing concern is dark tinting on front windshields—a trend law enforcement officials said poses serious safety risks. Drivers may think the aesthetic is appealing, but dark tints can significantly reduce visibility.
“You have to be able to see around you and be aware of your surroundings when you're driving,” Davis said. “So if your window tint is too dark, now you're creating a safety issue, not just for yourself, but for others on the roadway.”
