LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - As we approach fall, it’s the time of year doctors recommend patients get their flu vaccines. This week, an indicator of the national discussion over vaccinations has been congressional testimony on Capitol Hill.

Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr came under some bipartisan scrutiny Thursday during a Senate Finance Committee meeting.

“Secretary Kennedy, in your confirmation hearings, you promised to hold the highest standards for vaccines. Since then, I’ve grown deeply concerned,” said U.S. Senator for Wyoming, John Barrasso.

Under Kennedy’s guidance, the administration wants to limit some groups’ access to the COVID-19 vaccine and cancel funding for research into MRNA vaccines.

Kennedy defended his own stances during the hearing.
