EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police say a juvenile faces several charges after a 14-year-old was shot and killed Thursday afternoon.
Central Dispatch confirms a 911 call came in for a shooting around 3:40 p.m.
We're told the incident happened on East Cherry Street near South Evans Avenue.
Our news crew at the scene said they saw one person in handcuffs.
EPD says preliminary investigation reveals the young victim was accidentally shot.
According to EPD, the victim was shot by another juvenile who was handling a firearm they believed was unloaded.
EPD says while the suspect and their parents cooperated with the operation, the juvenile was charged with Reckless Homicide and Dangerous Possession of a Firearm.
