SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The annual 'Ride to Remember' event will take place Saturday in Springfield, bringing together law enforcement and the community to honor fallen officers.

The ride begins at the intersection of Main Street and Boland Way at 8:15 a.m. and is expected to attract up to 500 riders.

The event commemorates Springfield Police Officer Kevin Ambrose and Westfield Police Officer Jose Torres, both of whom were killed in the line of duty.

Police have advised that there will be traffic congestion in Springfield due to the 'Ride to Remember' and the 2025 enshrinement at the Basketball Hall of Fame. As a result, a portion of East Columbus Avenue will be closed from about 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
