VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation is seeking public feedback on its program honoring crash victims with personalized memorial signs warning people not to drink and drive.

WSDOT started the program in 1994. Since then, it has grown to include 1,026 roadside memorial signs around the state, including 26 signs in Clark County. Policies around the signs have also changed. Transportation officials said they're looking for consistency and ways to reduce sign overcrowding in some urban areas.

"The question is really about what are the durations that these signs should be in place? Should we have renewals, and what is that renewal period?" said Dongho Chang, director of transportation operations for WSDOT.
