There was lightning in the area around Lincoln Financial Field.
And the teams were asked to clear to field just before 10.30 pm local time.
NBC's television feed showed the weather radar in the Philadelphia region.
A storm was seen approaching Lincoln Financial Field from the south west.
Players were then seen walking back to the tunnel minutes after the game was halted.
And the stands also began to empty as fans were told to seek shelter.
The delay went on for an hour in total.
Players were allowed to return to the field at 11.15pm ET.
