Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper has informed the Las Vegas Raiders he is retiring from the NFL just over a week after he signed with the team, according to reports.
Cooper’s retirement was reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Thursday afternoon.
Las Vegas plays its 2025 season opener on Sunday at the New England Patriots. He signed with the Raiders , the team that drafted him fourth overall out of Alabama in the 2015 NFL Draft, on Aug. 26.
Cooper played last season for the Browns and Bills after being traded midseason from Cleveland to Buffalo. He previously played two full seasons in Cleveland from 2022-23, recording 150 receptions for 2,410 yards and 14 touchdowns and earning his fifth career Pro Bowl selection in 2023.
