Self-proclaimed neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell has been denied bail after a judge ruled his release would pose a risk to community safety.
Sewell is facing multiple charges including violent disorder, affray, assault by kicking, discharging missile, and other offences after he allegedly led an attack on an Indigenous camp on Sunday.
In a ruling handed down on Friday, Magistrate Donna Bakos said granting the 32-year-old bail could “endanger the safety and welfare of others”.
The Magistrate described the charges as “serious”, with some striking at the “heart of a cohesive society” – adding that at least three people, including a young woman who “required staples to seal the wound to her scalp”.
“Given the matters I have addressed, this application for bail must be refused,” Ms Bakos said.
