Several community members implored the Grand Junction City Council at its Wednesday meeting to continue the operations of the Orchard Mesa Pool after the city’s community recreation center completes construction next year and to invest in improvements to the facility.

Mariann Taigman said during the public comment portion of the meeting that she felt it was part of the Parks and Recreation Departments mission to provide services to city residents, including those on Orchard Mesa. Taigman, part of the citizen formed Save the Pool Committee, said she hoped the city could increase services in that area, including a medical clinic.
