Reports of a “possible” tornado in Perth’s eastern suburbs have been debunked but heavy rain and damaging winds continue to lash the State.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services revealed the State Emergency Service team responded to 27 calls concerning storm damage across the metro and South West regions on Friday.

At about 1.30pm, what is being described on social media as a possible tornado was seen in High Wycombe.

“A possible weak tornado has formed in High Wycombe, near the Perth metro area at 1.26pm today,” the Severe Weather Australia Facebook page said.

But the Bureau of Meteorology said it does not currently have evidence of a tornado in High Wycombe.
