The city of Marion has a new employee who will help find more funding for the city’s mammoth sewer system improvements as well as other departments.
The announcement about the new employee was made during Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Marion City Council.
Last year, engineering firm Kimley-Horn conducted an in-depth study on the city's sewer plant and sewer system infrastructure. City officials learned in December that it would take nearly $100 million to repair and modernize those systems.
Kimley-Horn representatives gave the city a presentation about the sewer system’s asset inventory and assessment needs. It was the first comprehensive study of the sewer plant, which has been in operation since the late 1970s. The city of Marion’s sewer treatment plant, sewer collection system and
