Shots were fired at an apartment building in Montreal Thursday evening while people were inside. No one was injured and police are investigating.

The shooting took place around 10 p.m. on Bourbonnière Avenue, near La Fontaine Street, in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

According to initial information obtained by the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), one or more suspects fired shots at the building before fleeing the scene.

Bullet impacts were found on the glass door of a residence.

“There were people inside the apartment, but fortunately no one was injured,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Montreal police has launched an investigation into the matter. The canine unit was called to the scene to search for evidence, while witnesses were interviewed.
