LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - An estimated $43 million in budget cuts are expected across the University of Nebraska System .
The news came Thursday afternoon during NU President Jeffrey P. Gold M.D.’s State of the University address.
The University of Nebraska - Lincoln is looking to cut more than $27 million . The University of Nebraska Medical Center is facing $9.1 million in cuts and the University of Nebraska - Omaha will have to slash its budget by nearly $2 million. The University of Nebraska - Kearney is sorting out how to cut $4.5 million.
A spokesperson with UNMC tells First Alert 6 four percent cuts are being made across all of their colleges, centers, and institutions.
He says by doing so, UNMC will not have to cut classes and will minimize the impact to students.
