RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Northern Nevada Public Health says it is awaiting guidance from the Advisory Committee on the COVID-19 vaccine.

They say they are awaiting guidance regarding immunization practices and are scheduled to meet on Sept. 18 to determine a path forward in providing the updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Once guidance is issued, NNPH will send out more info on how to obtain the vaccine through NNPH. They anticipate the vaccine will be available at the end of September or early October.

NNPH is pausing the use of the 2024-2025 version of the COVID-19 vaccine until they receive guidance. They say the updated version is a different formula designed to protect against new variants of COVID-19.
